Synaptic Labs helps nonprofits and small businesses put AI to practical use. Its course, Your AI Second Brain, teaches learners to build a second brain in Obsidian and work with AI agents inside it safely. Fourside Studios shot and edited the whole thing: 38 videos across nine modules, from the green screen shoots through the final subtitled files. Some lessons have two versions, one for Claude and one for Codex.
The Challenge
A course has to feel like one course. Lessons run from a 60-second click path to a ten-minute walkthrough of building and testing an AI skill, and every one needed the same look, the same sound and the same clarity, so a learner could follow along in their own vault without noticing where one recording day ended and the next began.
It also had to look like a proper studio production, without a studio.
The Process
Planning Every Lesson
Each lesson got a short plan: the module, the title, what the learner should be able to do afterward, and roughly how long it should run. That list became the shooting plan, then the editing plan, then the delivery tracker.
Shooting on Green Screen
The presenter was filmed on green screen across two half-day shoots. Behind them sits a set Fourside Studios modeled in 3D, so every lesson lives in the same space no matter when it was recorded.
Making the Set Believable
A keyed presenter in front of a 3D background can look cut out. To avoid that, Fourside Studios built custom light wrap nodes in DaVinci Resolve’s Fusion page, so the set’s light spills naturally onto the edges of the presenter. Neat Video cleaned up the noise in the footage, which keeps the key clean and the picture consistent from lesson to lesson.
Keeping 2.5 TB in Order
The shoots produced about 2.5 TB of footage. Organizing it by module and lesson from day one is what made 38 edits manageable, and it meant any revision could be found and turned around without digging.
Delivery
Approved videos and subtitle files went into a shared folder. Synaptic Labs signed off there, and their team uploaded and scheduled the lessons directly, so nobody had to ask where a lesson was.
What Fourside Studios Delivered
- Two half-day green screen shoots
- A 3D-modeled set behind every lesson
- 38 edited videos across nine modules, with subtitles, including separate Claude and Codex versions of some lessons
- Custom light wrap compositing in Fusion and Neat Video noise reduction throughout
- A finished course, with every module in Teachable or ready to publish
The course is already feeding what comes next: eight shorts and two long-form videos built from its lessons, releasing weekly through December.
